Consideration of Body-Mind Conversation and Massage
We get tensed up countless times a day. Amid the pressure of work, fatigue of human relationships, and constant smartphone notifications, the body and mind gradually become stiff. There are many ways to relax, but the most intuitive and instinctive of them is the massage. Massage is the most primitive act of healing, saying, "Someone touches and comfortes my body." We know empirically that sometimes touch gives more comfort than words.
When I think of a massage, I often think of 'comfort' or 'rest' first, but there are far more complex values hidden behind it. It is not just a technique for relaxing muscles, but it also contains the philosophical elements of respect for the human body and communion and recovery. Since ancient civilization, massage has functioned as a healing tool in human relationships and communities, not just a physical act.
Interestingly, massages require as much from 'doers' as from 'doers'. An experienced massage is not just someone who knows muscle structure, it is someone who has a sensitive sense of other people's pain. They read tension with their fingertips, adjust their rhythms, and sometimes elicit deeper communication than words. These tactile communications restore the nonverbal connections we often lose in our daily lives.
Of course, massage has proven to have several positive effects scientifically. Physical benefits such as improved blood circulation, pain relief, and improved immunity are clear. But more noteworthy is the emotional effect that induces emotional stability and relieves anxiety. When the body relaxes, the mind also unravels. At this time, we feel 'themselves' again in a different way than usual while being disarmed.
In that sense, massages are not a luxury for the body. Rather, it is a time of recovery essential to the lives of modern people and may be an important device to reconnect broken emotional circuits. The problem is, many people regard massages as luxury or a "special day service." However, massages should be taken more often and more routinely. It is more than just relieving fatigue, it is a change of attitude toward life.
On the other hand, as the massage industry is commercialized, there is also a reality that is linked to some distorted images or unethical services. In particular, the phenomenon of being confused with sexual factors or focused on consumption rather than treatment can obscure the original purpose of the massage. Massage is a healing act based on human dignity and should never be just entertainment or entertainment. In order to correct this, it is necessary to improve the awareness of society as a whole as well as the ethical awareness of the operator.
When we deal with massages, we have to remember that the act is not just a hand technique, but a task of dealing with people. Massage is a container that puts down 'I' for a while and entrusts yourself to someone's touch. At the same time, it is also a touch that understands and wraps up someone's pain. In this way, the massage enables a conversation between the body and mind, the operator and the person to be treated, the giver and the receiver.
After all, massage is the most instinctive and warmest act of human comfort. If we can feel the sincerity through that touch, it becomes not just a service but an art and a consciousness of healing. And in it, we find the balance of life again.
